10 February 2008, Sunday
And I finally come to the most amazing treking trip I have been to...with the most amazing
people in my group
Kemmangundi
is a small hill station-
no it's not snowy or even cold-situated in the Western Ghats and about 6-8 hours by bus from Manipal
Red-X..our college's Adventure group...had planned this trek to Kemmangundi. We boarded the bus on Saturday
midnight and went screaming and singing at the top of our voices and having fun all night long
We reached this place by morning and then had a small uphill climb through the botanical gardens to a place
where we refreshed ourselves and brushed and clicked loads o pics...the view of sunrise there was awesome
We moved on towards Z-point
which is the end hilly point of Kemmangundi...it is quite a long trek through mountain trails and a waterfall and stretches across two mountains....
Z-point has a beautiful 360-degree view...you can see for miles
and miles on end.
The best part is that you are actually in the midst of clouds at that point...so above and below is just cloud cover.
Moving back from that place...we had
lunch in the bus while we moved on towards this place from
where we were supposed
to go to Hebbe Falls.
Seriously speaking, none of us ever thought going downhill would be difficult.
But trust me...when you have to walk downhill continuously for one and a half hour on stretch...you'll know what i'm talking about...plus three river streams to cross barefoot was painful coz either the rocks were too sharp or people kept falling because of the excessively slippery rocks...

But we finally reached the Hebe Falls...and the whole thing was worth it. Such huge falls falling from such great heights...plus crystal clear cold water...everyone enjoyed thoroughly...
On the way back everyone was tired and came uphill by jeep...and then we changed into dry clothes in the bus and slept on our way back to college...and as usual in class too the next day!

Sunday Funday 3-Bangalore
1-3 February 2008, Friday-Sunday
Now this is
one
which i
really enjoyed
IIM Bangalore held it's
annual cultural fest called Unmaad 2008 this time on the exact weekend
So all bundled up I w
ent along with my college theatre group called Aaina.....to take part in the street play category and any others that might fancy me...especially the singing competitions...
Now we arrived on Friday morning...had nothing to take part in...rehearsed the street play and the movie spoof...and then split up....the evening was a complete
waste...so was the night inspite of so many fundoo events happening around...the thing with this fest was that there was something or the other happening 24x7!! Events began at 10 am and ended at 11 pm...then again DJ night or something from 12 to 5 am!!
Rocking fest!
Second day...Saturday...we had our street play competition...didnt win anything but yeah went good..spent the afternoon trying my hand at singing...but as usual the scene was like everyone is singing classical and i'm singing Bollywood-pop...so anyway...but joined a friend in the dance workshop being conducted for anyone interested over
there...attended just 15 mins but learnt real basic ballroom steps of Jive and Bachata...serious fun...the evening was well spent with people from the Literary & Debating club and Editorial Board of our college who had also come here
for the literary events....who are now my real good friends....went out for dinner with Dhruv and Jayashree to FORUM....had food at McD's after sooooo long!!
The best part came at night...we arrived at around 10 pm back to the campus...at 12 there was karaoke night...sang and enjoyed a lot in that....the had DJ night at around 2 am...danced a bit only coz the Dj was boring...
Sunday was mostly spent in attending events cheering up friends here and there...we left for Corner House in the
evening with our bags...had loads of combinations of ice-cream and dessert there...must
say heavenly desserts!! And then the usual...came back on Monday morning just in time for class...I mean just rushed into class with my luggage and all!

Sunday Funday 2-Goa!!
25-27 January 2008, Friday-Sunday
Well this one was a real whacky plan...
It so happened that on the Friday before the Sunday Funday 2, I'm walking on the road
towards the canteen to have lunch...and my friend Sanchita grab hold of me and tells me-"We're going to Goa...and you're coming with us"
Now I know she gets whacky ideas many-a-times but to this extent! Tried a lot to convince her it's a bad idea...but she was adamant...and it further complicated things as Dad was in Goa and was supposed to come here to Manipal.....so had to change his plans also
And lo and behold, an hour later we're sitting in general coach on our way to Goa!!
Friday passed away
in travel and then I went to see Dad at night and stayed with him....
Saturday was half with Dad and half a Baga beach and the Saturday Night Bazaar....and roamed about doing crazy stuff on Madgaon's streets at midnight!
Sunday..well we had fun that day....went to Kolva beach and spent the whole day lazing around there...
Came back on Sunday night-Monday morning...and slept in class ;-)
Don' have much pics for this one...mostly spent time on the beach so had kept the cellphone in the bag...

Sunday Funday 1-St.Mary's Island
20 January 2008, Sunday
Well
before coming back to Manipal...I had decided that every
Sunday is gonna be a funday...as in I'm go someplace new...
So my first Sunday...I we
nt to this isalnd we had heard a lot about called St.Mary's Island....just off the coast of Malpe (That's our local beach...20 mins away)....
Me, my buddy
Zeeshan and more people-Naimul, Faraaz, KK, Sajjad, Mujir....all of us went to this place in the afternoon
You get to this island by ferry....it's a beautiful island...totally uninhabited...and
also
a geological monument due to
it's columnar lava rock formations which seriously are so beautiful...got real wonderful patterns and look so perfectly geometrical!
ferryRoamed about on the island for an hour and a half....then took the back and spent some time on the crowded Malpe beach....and came back..but the pics will tell more than the words!
