Enjoying the rain at Metro Walk

Well what was planned to be a group meeting at Metro Walk, Rithala ended up as a hi hello thing with me, Anjali and Divya being the only ones there,though Shray came for a while, saw that no one was there, and finally got bored and left for home where he slept all day long or played computer games most probably.
So here we were discussing whether we should hop onto the Metro and zip off to Rajauri to spend some time mall hopping..but decided against it coz of time constraints.
Sat about doing nothing, when the Gods were grateful, and sent a few showers for the thirsty and really bored souls down here..enjoyed a lot in the rain and had a little photo shoot in the fountains, which, unfortunately, were only meant for kids, which we anyhow claimed for ourselves for a while :-P
Real fun just standing there, getting drenched...amazing!

Class Trip to the Shit-Pond (Oops!! The Waste-water treatment plant)

Well, as it goes, our Environmental Sciences teacher had one last class yesterday, and he decided to take us out on a field trip to, of all the places, the Waste-water treatment plant behind our hostel blocks (you call that a trip??), and that too in the scorching afternoon!
Well technically, there were just about 15-20 of us students and sir, who very gladly was explaining the mechanism of the water treatment (the oxidation ponds are cleaned once every 6 years!! Boy, we sure would have had a memorable experience had the teacher fallen into it! ;-) )
Well, as treatment plants go, this one had two strange ponds which were stinking, with narrow pathway and people just wishing they are not the ones to fall into a pond full of all that that goes down the toilet drains (eww!!)
I know it is disgusting, but had nothing better to write about...thankfully no one fell into the waste water...

Well...this is my fave post till now...coz it's my birthday post!!
I had to give my friends a treat, so I thought of something innovative.
Firstly, on 16th of April, I took pastries for the senior guys and gals in the Ed Board who're my buddies (Sujata, JS, Khattar, Neelav, Mridu, and more), and they gave me a royal bashing as is the custom here in Manipal (my ass hurt like hell after that!!).
The next day, i.e. my birthday, I had made plans to take my 1st yr friends for a treat, but something different

I had a beach party!!


The sunset, the sands, the beach, the sea, the rain which happened before that, the fun we had that day at Malpe beach! It was simply amazing. 7 of us-Me, Dev, Mayank, Tanvi, Bhumika, Sameer, Akhilesh went to the beach around sunset and two of my other friends Zeeshan and Faraz joined me after a while (after sunset). It was serious fun with all 7 of us plunging in the sea water and splashing around like crazy and doing wierd st on the beach, running around and playing. It was about an hour later and the sun had already set half an hour before when the other two joined u went towards the benches and then these guys decorated the cake and I cut it. By then the Domino's guy had got our pizzas and Coke, so it was fun, sittin on the sand, having pizza, coke and cake...my perfect birthday!!

Utsav 2008!

5-10 April 2008, Sat-Thu



Well Manipal Univ held its annual intra-univ cul-fest in the beginning of April (just before our sessionals, no wonder so many of us got doomed in them!). The event was full of dance, theatre, music competitions, quizzing, art, what not...but was real fun especially coz we got half days during the fest, which went for about a week.
Fun days included Ethnic night (yes that happened in Revels also, but yeah this is when u really get to see everyone from around Manipal dressed in their finest!), then again the day of the street play where I went with my newly formed theatre group called "Jaago". Was difficult, I mean we were given 24 hrs to prepare a totally new street play on the given topic and hence practiced all night long till the wee hours of the morning! But finally hard work pays off...came 3rd in the same!!
Plus again the same day was the solo dance competiton where my friend Dev performed, amazing dancer that guy, got some good pics of that day of Dev, Me, Mayank and Tanvi....the four bestest buddies!

Holi!

Holi in Manipal, especially in MIT, is like nowhere else. Considering the fact that there are no water taps anywhere outside on the roads...people played with all the water they could manage from buckets, plus it was raining a bit. Holi is wild here, with none of the guys spared from a "t-shirt ripping contest" as everyone vies to rip apart their t-shirts in the funniest manner imaginable (girls were spared the misfortune..we all know why!). People played with proper permanent colors and eggs and what not (girls were seen doing such stuff more than the guys!). In all, a very enjoyable holi. My shirt got ripped three times and the only pic in this post is the one which i clicked after coming back (yes, it was a shirt and is now a toga. It was the max I could do to cover myself up with the rags). In all, a fabulous, rocking holi! Holi in college and especially in hostels is something no one would like to miss!

P.S: The color didnt leave me for a week. Had to scrub myself twice daily. Plus I take no responsibility for anyone getting a heart attack on seeing my pic! ;-)

Revels'08!

March 12-15, 2008, Wed-Sun

Well I'll say...my first Revels (our college's cul-fest) here was wierd but amazing. The worst part being that i completely lost my voice 2 days before the events and the doctor told me not to open my mouth ever for a week...still I sung in the duet...and shouted at the top of my voice in the Street Play (came 1st!!!). But a pretty enjoyable experience...every day something or the other goin on and on...then the wierd dress codes which were sometimes followed like on ethnic night...and sometimes not (the "Dare-to-bare" day ;-) )
Got very few pics of the same..just ethnic night and a bit more...no pics of my performances though...

Sunday Funday 5-Karkala

Well as it went, I again had another Sunday to spare without anywhere to go...so just buzzed my friend Mayank. Me, Mayank and Tanvi decided to go to Karkala...which is a small town about 45 minutes by bus from Manipal.
This time I was totally at the mercy of these two who, unlike what they claimed, had seriously forgotten their way around that place (even though they have been there once!). We had to go to some famous lake but ended up someplace which was a pond full of algae and what not....anyway we finally reached the Gommateshwara statue on the top of this hill...from where we trekked our way through wild underbrush and uneven terrain...and finaly reached the lake...though we moved on real soon from there too....again through wilderness...
Well then we just hung around for a bit and then went back coz it was gettin too hot. but in all a fun experience!
